Grant Accountant

The National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) was formed in 1990 by national, regional, and local organizations to develop and harness the collective energies of community reinvestment organizations from across the country to increase the flow of private capital into traditionally underserved communities. NCRC has grown to an association of more than 600 community-based organizations that promote access to basic banking services including credit and savings, to create and sustain affordable housing, job development and vibrant communities for America's working families.

JOB SUMMARY: 

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Grant Accountant position is responsible for the operation of post-award grant administration and related accounting duties. This position will serve as the point of contact for all grants accounting functions and will work closely with program directors and managers on grant related issues. The Grant Accountant will assist in accounts payable and receivable processing. Participate in the preparation of the monthly financials. Provide support in the development of the program and organizational budget. Assist with the preparation of interim financials to grantors, as well as assist the Accounting Manager with various special projects. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintaining all contract folders, grant files, sub-grantee files and updates as needed
  • Recording and posting of all grant journal entries, and Year-end audit schedules as needed.
  • Interacting with Accounting Manager on a daily basis and assist on special projects
  • Creating budgets and justifications for grant proposals
  • Assist with the preparation of indirect cost rate proposal to the appropriate federal agencies. Understanding of cost accounting is essential.
  • Prepare required quarterly federal financial reports and maintain supporting schedules on a timely basis (SF425, SF270 )
  • Reporting and reconciliation of Funders, Bank deposits as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or equivalent work experience preferably in grant accounting
  • Knowledge and Proficiency of Finance/Accounting Principles and Cost Accounting
  • Previous General Ledger accounting and financial reporting experience
  • Computer skills with MS Office software required, experience with EXCEL, QuickBooks, and Sage Fund Accounting a plus.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
