Director, Women’s Business Center
Dee Claxton is currently serving as the Director of the Washington DC Women’s Business Center where counseling, training and special events are provided for women who are current and future small business owners. In addition to technical assistance, advocacy is provided for inclusion of women-owned businesses in federal procurement and gaining access to capital. The DC WBC is funded in part by the Small Business Administration and operated by the National Community Reinvestment Coalition.
As an entrepreneur at heart, Ms. Claxton grew up with West Indian grandparents and family members who were hard working entrepreneurs. Starting from humble beginnings as a realtor, she continued her core mission as a businessperson, with a keen focus on providing quality customer services in the hospitality industry. This effort then led to her pioneering, the first of its kind program that merged customer service with security awareness (CSSAP). Clients included celebrities, politicians, and fortune 500 companies, worldwide. She has been featured on nationally syndicated television and in publications, to include Forbes “Travel like a Billionaire” and “The Insiders List”, with Julie Moran.
Well known for her strategic design thinking and organizational management consulting across many industries, Ms. Claxton’s philosophy is, with the proper planning and if done strategically-right, your competitors become less relevant to your success. Think big, think deep and think in time!
