Discovering Nonprofit Impact Using a Racial Equity Lens – Part I: Needs Assessments
November 5, 2020, 2:00 pm EST - 3:30 pm EST
In this first webinar, we will examine research from the PEW Research Center about how wealth inequality has widened along racial and ethnic lines since the end of the 2008 Great Recession. Despite efforts of thousands of nonprofits nationwide, there continues to be an ongoing issue with generational cycles of poverty among people of color and other under-represented populations.
As nonprofits, it is important that the root causes of generational poverty are properly identified and addressed. Need assessments are vital to an organization’s ability to gather baseline data and information in order to identify various strategies and activities that will lead to racial wealth equity change and improvement. This webinar will present an overview of the steps required in developing community need assessments using a racial equity lens.
You will learn:
- How vision and mission statements help to guide the development of questions in need assessments
- The key differences between and when to use qualitative vs. quantitative need assessment questions
- How to develop informative qualitative and quantitative needs assessment questions based on the vision/mission of your organization/program
