Habitat for Humanity’s 2024 Affiliate Conference is March 4-7 in Atlanta, Georgia. NCRC’s Senior Policy Advisor Kevin Hill will be speaking on the panel, “The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA): What is it? How Can Affiliates Use It to Increase Production?”

Panel Description
The Community Reinvestment Act, or CRA, is a federal law designed to encourage commercial banks and savings associations to help meet the needs of borrowers in all segments of their communities, including low- and moderate-income neighborhoods. CRA was one of several laws passed during the late 1970s to expand access to credit. The Office of the Comptroller of the Current, Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and the Federal Reserve Board share oversight of CRA. This session will include an overview and discussion of CRA from the perspectives of regulators, lenders and on-the-ground practitioners. Attendees will also hear about the real-life implications of the regulations, along with examples of strategies and structures that have leveraged CRA to help affiliates increase production.
