Fair Housing & Advancing Housing Justice
February 26, 2021, 8:45 am EST - 12:45 pm EST
In light of the events of 2020 FHCSWM chose to postpone the 2020 conference and offer this conference as a virtual experience. With the new reality of COVID-19, we realized it is more important than ever to look at issues of fair housing and equity.
The conference will give housing professionals, from real estate brokers to social service staff, a strong understanding of the Fair Housing Laws. Attendees will learn basic identification of potential fair housing violations and discuss practices to improve compliance with Fair Housing Laws. The Advancing Housing Justice conference creates a space for community members, social service agencies, advocates, real estate professionals, housing providers, and municipal leaders and staff to address pressing fair housing issues affecting communities in the Southwest Michigan area. Together, we can build on the legacy of the leaders of the civil rights movement to create a more just and equitable society. Furthering fair housing means advancing equity, not just in terms of housing choice, but also as it relates to all opportunities related to where you live, including transportation, education, and health.
