NCRC CDF Offers Free Corporate Transparency Act Legal Clinic for Small Businesses
July 25 , 5:00 pm EDT – 7:00 pm EDT
THIS IS NOT A TRAINING. SMALL BUSINESSES WILL MEET ONE-ON-ONE WITH ATTORNEY VOLUNTEERS TO LEARN HOW/IF THE CORPORATE TRANSPARENCY ACT AFFECTS THEM AND UNDERSTAND HOW TO FILE A BENEFICIAL OWNERSHIP INFORMATION REPORT.
WHEN: July 25, 2024, with registrants able to join from 5 – 7 pm ET
WHERE: Virtual (details shared with confirmed registrants)
WHO SHOULD REGISTER:
This legal clinic is for for-profit small businesses that:
– Are not sole proprietors or general partnerships,
– Are incorporated or organized in DC or any state,
– Have fewer than 20 employees, and
– Have less than $5,000,000 in annual gross receipts or sales.
The CTA aims to help prevent and combat money laundering, terrorist financing, corruption, tax fraud, and other illicit activity. Under the Act, new and existing businesses that are corporations, limited liability companies, or certain other entities must submit beneficial ownership information (BOI) to the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) by 2025.
The DC Bar Pro Bono Center and Honigman LLP are holding this virtual legal clinic to help small businesses understand how the CTA affects them. At the legal clinic, pro bono attorneys will meet with you one-on-one to help you determine if your business is exempt, and/or to help you prepare to file with FinCEN.
Completing this form does not confirm your attendance for this legal clinic. Prior to finalizing registration, eligible small businesses will receive a follow-up email with additional information.
