CEFA FAQ

Who is NCRC? What do they do?
The National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) is a non-profit association comprising more than 600 community-based organizations that promote access to basic banking services, including credit and savings, to create and sustain affordable housing, job development and vibrant communities for America’s working families. Our members include community reinvestment organizations, community development corporations, local and state government agencies, faith-based institutions, community organizing and civil rights groups, minority and women-owned business associations, and local and social service providers from across the nation.

What does film have to do with NCRC and vice versa?
Visual media is the most compelling form of media currently used to inform, entertain and educate the mass public on a variety of issues. It’s NCRC’s hope that by engaging the filmmaking community it can help promote and produce films that focus on the issues related to NCRC and its work.

I’m confused, is this a film festival?
While NCRC plans to host a Community Empowerment Film Festival in the future, this year it is only logistically possible to select a handful of films to exhibit at the 2012 NCRC Annual Conference. All of the films and filmmakers invited to the Conference will be recognized, with one filmmaker receiving the NCRC Community Empowerment Film Award.

Is there an application fee? What formats are accepted?
There is no application fee and no long forms to fill out, either. Simply send a DVD of your film to the address below. Be sure to include all of your contact information so that NCRC can reach you if you are selected. And remember all films must be received by March 2, 2012 to be considered.
