Mother Jones, March 27th, 2019: Facebook just announced plans to ban white nationalists and separatists
More than a year and a half after the platform was used to organize a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, Facebook announced on Wednesday that it would no longer allow “praise, support and representation of white nationalism and separatism on Facebook and Instagram.” The ban comes months after Facebook made the decision this fall to ban white supremacist content, but not white nationalism.
“It’s clear that these concepts are deeply linked to organized hate groups and have no place on our services,” a company spokesperson outlined in a press release on Wednesday.
