Racial inequity prompted the introduction of the CRA to combat the effects of discriminatory practices embedded in the financial system. Yet generations of exploitation and exclusion continue to prevent communities of color from participating fully in the economy. This session will provide a framework for understanding the issue of racial equity from the perspectives of policy, community-based efforts, and investments to illuminate a pathway for building sustainable wealth among excluded households. Presenters will share insights on the connection between racial equity, people, and place and how to eliminate barriers to affordable capital and credit.
