SNAP Employment & Training (SNAP E&T) is a federal program that supports low-income individuals to gain the skills, training and work experience necessary to secure stable employment.

It connects individuals to education, job training and supportive services that remove barriers to work and increase long-term economic stability. Using the SNAP E&T framework, community-based organizations can expand their reach, strengthen their programs and connect more individuals to sustainable employment opportunities.

NCRC is committed to ensuring communities have the skills and tools necessary to drive economic mobility, and SNAP E&T is no exception. We provide training, technical assistance and connections that help organizations navigate program requirements, build strong partnerships and deliver effective services. By working with states, local agencies and community-based organizations, NCRC helps expand access to quality employment and training opportunities for SNAP participants nationwide.

Webinars

NCRC’s 5-part webinar series will focus on guiding community-based organizations involved in workforce development with the skills and information necessary to understand what SNAP E&T is, how the third-party partner model functions and whether it is a good fit for your organization.

NCRC’s 5-part webinar series will focus on guiding community-based organizations involved in workforce development with the skills and information necessary to understand what SNAP E&T is, how the third-party partner model functions and whether it is a good fit for your organization.

  • Determine if SNAP E&T is a good fit for your organization
  • Make a case for pursuing a SNAP E&T partnership, showing the potential for revenue generation and increased capacity to enhance services for participants
  • Develop a framework for a SNAP E&T proposal showing your SNAP agency how your program is prepared and aligned with the state’s SNAP E&T priorities
  • Identify capacity or staffing gaps that, with minor adjustments, can be filled in preparation to be a SNAP E&T partner

Cohorts

NCRC hosts state-wide cohorts with community-based organizations interested in becoming a service provider with their state SNAP agency. Approved providers can receive 50% reimbursement for the services they are already offering in their communities.

Cohort participants will receive virtual trainings, case studies, peer discussions and an opportunity to convene in-person with existing providers and state officials. At the end of the cohort, participating organizations will be well-positioned to submit a program application to their state SNAP E&T agency.

New England Workforce Innovation Group

The New England Workforce Innovation Group brings together current SNAP Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) third-party partners and workforce organizations interested in SNAP E&T across Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Maine to address a critical and persisting challenge for third-party organizations: meeting the non-federal funding requirements.

Participating organizations will receive training on fundamental concepts in community development, such as redlining and the Community Reinvestment Act. They will also learn strategies to foster stronger community relationships and communicate effectively with financial institutions.

This opportunity is well-suited for organizations that either (1) currently participate as third-party SNAP E&T providers OR (2) operate workforce training programs and support services that may align with SNAP E&T.
