On Monday, the Treasury Department and Small Business Administration—under pressure from government auditors, watchdog groups, and Democratic lawmakers—released new, comprehensive data on the businesses that received loans under the Paycheck Protection Program. It’s the most thorough look yet at a program that is widely credited with staving off a labor market disaster even worse than the one the United States is currently facing.
