Washington DC — John Taylor, President and CEO of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition made the following statement:
“The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is a rare agency in Washington. It’s charged solely with standing up for American consumers and the little guy. If you are a homeowner who lost everything in the foreclosure crisis because of a bad loan or a student saddled with debt, the CFPB is standing up for you. If you are a veteran struggling with a predatory loan or someone who has been treated poorly by the credit card companies, the CFPB is standing up for you. It is important in this moment of leadership transition, that the agency is headed by someone with a strong track record of standing up for consumers, for the little guy.”
Jesse Van Tol, Chief Operating Officer of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, also spoke today alongside Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) and consumer rights leaders at a press conference and demonstration outside the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s headquarters.
