NCRC Honors 2014 National Achievement Award Winners at Annual Conference

Washington, DC – Today, at the National Community Reinvestment Coalition’s (NCRC) 2014 Annual Conference, NCRC will present its National Achievement Awards. The Awards Dinner will feature addresses from lifetime achievement award recipient Rev. Dr. William Barber II, and NCRC President and CEO John Taylor. Robert Dickerson, Jr., Chair of NCRC’s Board of Directors, will serve as master of ceremonies.

The recipients of the 2014 National Achievement Awards are:

Rev. Dr. William Barber II for the Senator William Proxmire Award

The Senator William Proxmire Award recognizes the individual whose life’s work exemplifies the spirit and work of Senator Proxmire’s contributions to economic mobility. Senator Proxmire was the author and lead sponsor of the Community Reinvestment Act.

Manna, Inc. for the James Rouse Award

The James Rouse Award recognizes the most outstanding urban non-profit organization that best promotes fair and equal access to credit and capital and/or contributes the most in its community toward promoting wealth building in traditionally underserved populations.

New Hampshire Community Loan Fund for the Representative James Leach Award

The Representative James Leach Award recognizes the most outstanding rural non-profit organization that best promotes fair and equal access to credit and capital and/or contributes the most in its community toward promoting wealth building in traditionally underserved populations.

At the NCRC Congressional Luncheon earlier this week, Senator Tom Harkin was presented with the Representative Henry B. Gonzalez Award. This award recognizes the most outstanding government official/agency or for-profit firm that forges the most effective partnerships with community non-profits and assists them in helping traditionally underserved people build wealth and economic opportunity.
