Many changes are underway at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). What do advocates, practitioners and the general public need to watch for and what can they do to fight back against unfavorable proposals?
We will discuss a number of topics including, the recent CFPB Supreme Court decision, payday rule, and CFPB settlement regarding deadlines for the implementation of Section 1071 of the Dodd-Frank Act.”The settlement was filed in response to a suit brought by Democracy Forward on behalf of the California Reinvestment Coalition (CRC), the National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB) and small business owners. NCRC and many member organizations and allies have been fighting for this rule and for small business lending transparency for years, and NCRC was instrumental in inserting the rulemaking requirement into the Dodd-Frank Act. This was such an important victory for all of us, and we will discuss the next steps of the process.
