Many gathered at THEARC to celebrate Washington, D.C,’s Emancipation Day through an event titled “Emancipation Day Freedom School”. This event highlighted the past and present fight for educational and housing equity in the city and around the nation. In most recent decades, DC residents have underwent intense gentrification that led to about 20,000 Black Washingtonians displaced between the years of 2000-2013, according to the National Community Reinvestment Coalition.

New report details policy proposals to bridge the racial wealth divide

The racial wealth divide is greater today than it was nearly four decades ago and trends point to its continued widening.
