Black America was in an economic crisis before COVID-19, and recovery for Black-owned businesses will require solutions to the economic preconditions that made success and wealth accumulation so difficult to achieve before the pandemic, a new report found.
This was the right move and essential to keep people safe and in their homes. The pandemic isn’t over, the financial crisis it created for millions of families isn’t over, and evictions now would make the situation much worse.

From 2012-2018, big banks got bigger, and 8,872 local branches closed. But in most counties, small business lending was still dominated by banks with branches within the community.
